Vendor Notebook - CancerCare of Maine picks Versus for RTLS

Versus Technology, Inc., the Traverse City, Mich. maker of real-time locating solutions for the healthcare industry, has announced that CancerCare of Maine (CCOM), operated by Eastern Maine Medical Center, has selected the Versus Advantages solution for its new, state-of-the-art facility in Brewer. The Versus solution is used to automatically communicate patient care progression, room status and to maximize efficiency through integration with other systems such as digital phones, scheduling and nurse call.
 
Uptime Devices, the Austin, Texas-based maker of environmental monitoring, power control, and data center security devices, has announced the availability of the its Remote Physical Monitor (RPM) hardware platform. Responding to customers' requirements for advanced environment monitoring capabilities, Uptime Devices' Remote Physical Monitor Console Manager (CM) delivers Reliable Networking, Advanced Hardware, and Customizable Advanced Alerting. When the RPM CM is used in conjunction with the Remote Intelligence Multi Sensors (RIMS), the Uptime Devices RPM hardware platform creates a proactive monitoring solution.

HCI, the Cincinnati provider of healthcare grade televisions and patient infotainment systems, has announced the addition of a new 42” internet protocol television (IPTV) to its product line, which features built-in media player capabilities for patients, staff, and visitors to share movies, music, and pictures.  Built-in thin client capabilities can allow patients to access the internet without any extra equipment in the patient room; used in conjunction with HCI’s InnovaTV Patient Portal, patients gain access to surveys, gift shop, and food ordering.
 
Quest Diagnostics and MedPlus, its healthcare information technology subsidiary, are introducing Care360 EHR, an electronic health record solution which will enable physicians to embrace the benefits of digital healthcare and emerging government standards for meaningful use. The move by the Madison, N.J.-based company represents a big step as it leverages its expertise and strong footprint in the laboratory space to deliver a comprehensive solution to physicians.
 
Emergisoft, of Arlington, Texas, has announced its strategic partnership with MS2 Group a professional service firm that has developed the capabilities to enact rapid, cost-effective, comprehensive, and long-lasting transformation of emergency department (ED) operations and services. Together, Emergisoft and MS2 Group will assist hospitals in Puerto Rico by providing efficient ED services and better documentation procedures.

Medicity, Inc., of Salt Lake City, has announced that top-ranked health system Trinity Health, comprised of 44 hospitals and numerous healthcare facilities in eight states, went live with the first stage of its Novo Grid deployment - establishing electronic health information exchange (HIE) with 297 affiliated physician practices and 991 physicians in three months.
 
Summit Healthcare, the Braintree, Mass. provider of healthcare system integration and task automation, has announced five new agreements it has signed with hospitals in the second half of 2009, including Beaufort, South Carolina's Beaufort Memorial Hospital; Valhalla, New York's Blythedale Children's Hospital; Boulder, Colorado's Boulder Community Hospital; Ithaca, New York's Cayuga Medical Center; and Plymouth, Massachusetts' Jordan Hospital. Each has chosen Summit Healthcare as their sole integration partner as they migrate from their current Meditech platforms to Meditech 6.0. Summit Healthcare will provide these organizations with its expertise for interface management, data migration and dictionary maintenance to ensure successful, streamlined and secure migrations.

Venyu, the Baton Rouge-based maker of solutions for data protection, availability and recovery and InSite One, of Wallingford, Conn., the medical data archiving, exchange, and business continuance company, has announced a joint partnership aimed at helping healthcare institutions and providers manage soaring amounts of electronic medical data. Venyu, a PHNS subsidiary, also brings expansion opportunity to the partnership through geographically-diverse, SAS70 qualified, data centers.

Carestream Health Inc., of Rochester, N.Y., has announced that its CR-based mammography imaging systems and multi-modality breast imaging workstation passed Mammography Image Integration Profile testing conducted by Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) International at its recent North America Connectathon. This compliance helps ensure interoperability with other systems for a streamlined workflow. Mammography imaging is available on selected DIRECTVIEW CR systems in Canada, Europe, South America, Australia, Asia and other regions of the world where the CARESTREAM Mammography Feature is approved for use. The company’s CR systems offer enhanced workflow and productivity for healthcare providers by allowing the capture of both mammography and general radiology exams on the same imaging device. Specialized cassettes and screens are required for mammography imaging.
