Ohio hospitals' HIT push focuses on automating patient care

Fisher-Titus Medical Center, a community hospital serving North Central Ohio, and Port Clinton, Ohio-based Magruder Hospital aim to become the standard in automated patient care. Over the next 10 months, these healthcare organizations may become the first two all-digital, smart hospitals in the nation when they complete the implementation of Cerner healthcare technology systems throughout both organizations.

EHR vendor extends mobile access to Blackberry users

More than 100 medical groups throughout the U.S. have been using Allscripts Remote since the mobile app debuted last April, but with more than 160,000 physicians and 800 hospitals using the Chicago-based software developer's popular EHRs, the company has launched a Blackberry version of its mobile solution.

If EHR adoption in the U.S. has so far felt like a Sunday drive in your favorite weird uncle's 1929 Ford Sedan Classic, the next 24 months should start to feel like the old man finally lost it and retrofitted the vintage vehicle with a nitrous system. With serious money on the table, thanks to the HITECH provision in the ARRA, many physicians will be looking to implement EHRs over the coming two years--and Cerner is among those EHR and mobility solutions providers aiming to fast-track the process. The company just struck a deal to offer its physician practice solutions through Vernon Hills, Ill.-based CDW Healthcare, a supplier of a broad range of hardware, software and mobility solutions specifically targeted to the healthcare marketplace.

EHR push to drive wireless healthcare deployments, despite challenges

Date: Jun 05, 2009 The market for EMR data transfer equipment and applications, valued at $575 million in 2008, is projected to reach $1.6 billion in 2013, according to a study from research firm Kalorama Information. The new report states this segment of the patient monitoring market will grow 23.3 percent annually through 2013, spurred on by the growing use of EMRs in hospitals and physician offices.
