Voalte readies for Blackberry rollout

A little over a year ago, I wrote how Voalté, which competes with Ascom, Cisco and others, wants to be the central communications engine--or traffic cop--on your healthcare organization's iPhone. This year at HIMSS, the Sarasota, Fla.-based developer of point-of-care communication technology plans to make its Voalté One solution available to Blackberry users, too.

The company's plans haven't changed. Voalté still aims to redefine hospital communication at the point of care by delivering a complete application for voice, alarms and text messaging on robust expandable platforms. And they've been making headway. But the BlackBerry platform remains the leading choice in the healthcare sector, so the decision just makes sense.

Tyler Lessard, RIM's VP Global Alliances and Developer Relations, says that by combining the mobility and security of the BlackBerry platform with the Voalté solution, nurses and clinical workers will be able to further streamline communications and enhance the quality of patient care.

So going forward, expect Voalté to continue its push towards becoming the central communications center on healthcare's iPhones and Blackberrys, leveraging its VoIP, text messaging and alarm engine capabilities to manage workflow technologies.
