U.K. firm bolsters RTLS offering with Wi-Fi temperature monitoring
Posted on Fri, Jan 22, 2010 - 10:03 amU.K.-based Airetrak, a provider of Wi-Fi based real time locating systems for the healthcare sector, has enhanced its ResourceView information solution with Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring functionality.
Having this capability means hospitals can reliably record the temperature of all refrigerators and freezers, as well as blood or drugs boxes in transit.
Company officials say the new ResourceView Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring system was designed based on the input from 20 NHS hospitals. It continuously monitors the temperature of refrigerators, freezers and mobile storage in real time, using calibrated sensors that communicate over the hospital’s Wi-Fi network. Information is accessed via an intuitive Web-based user interface, which is capable of monitoring one or multiple temperature readings.
The Wi-Fi Temperature Monitoring system also boasts an extensive reporting package that provides a complete audit trail for up to 15 years, detailing every event, including response time, corrective action taken and escalations to staff members.
